Abstract

The American Artist Basil Twist departed from the traditional water puppetry in terms of designing the stage and the puppets, by abstracting the puppets through the use of various materials such as: cloth, plastic, and feathers to convey his idea.“Art is considered a field of liberation and the expression of ambiguous feelings. The material of the abstract artistic work and its sensory effects are sources of aesthetic values” (Acocella, 2018).
Is it possible for abstract water puppets to express the director's vision? Dose the audience can interact with? The effect of music on how feelings are embodied through these abstract water puppets?
Through the analytical study of fantastic symphony performance and the symphony itself, Basil Twist and his team had changed the concept of water puppetry for the audience in America, proving that these abstract puppets, with appropriate lighting and music, can deliver exactly what the artist wants.
