Abstract

Fantasy illustrations as a work of art involve a wide range of mediums. Artists use several techniques to revive their fantasy visions, which make these illustrations provide a unique visual effect whose intensity depends on the medium and performance style. This is in addition to visual tricks in expressing fantasy by organizing the medium potentials, with the content of the fantasy illustrations, expression, and aesthetic emotion that the artist wishes to present. Therefore, the research problem is defined in a new artistic formulation of fantasy illustrations within the context of the artist’s book with a set of mixed media dealing with the idea of fantasy religious storytelling. Hence, the book, as an artistic piece, fulfills its historical function of information transfer aiming at discussing the visual effects resulting from the artist’s mixing of traditional and digital mediums. This is considered the most influential factor in the perception of illustrations, endowing them with their unique imaginative character. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method to show how these tools and mediums allowed boundless experimentation and artistic expression. Mixing various media is what stimulates imagination, and controls creativity leading the artist to implement fantasy illustrations.
