Abstract

The researcher sheds light on the artworks that dealt with the topics of Greek mythology. This included psychological and emotional states and different human behaviors, linking them to modern psychology, dating these artworks and finally write their description and analysis. By studying several myths, the researcher suggests that during the classical Greek stage, the human being was the center of the universe. Furthermore, the prevalent belief at that time was that the psychological and behavioral acts of people emanated from the wrath of the gods and their curse, not from human’s exposure to shocks or disturbances that might have affected him. This prompted writers of poetry and tragic plays to depict the heroes as impeccable in order to sympathize with the characters. Simultaneously, artists throughout the years recorded those moments and expressed how influential were its scenes. Each artist had his expressive style according to the features and elements of his time. However, in the Middle Ages, Humanity was not the focus of attention, as religion was the center of attention. Hence, the expression of the human soul's secrets became less, so the religious subjects of the holy books replaced human issues.
