Abstract

This research deals with the idea of design between figuration and concept in the education of interior architecture, focusing on the ways of thinking and creativity in design. An experiment was conducted on concept and creativity in the education of interior architecture. The problem addressed in the research lies in the fact that many students tend to approach design concepts solely from a figuration perspective. This was observed and monitored through various experiments conducted by the researcher, who works as an associate professor of interior architecture. The study involved a group of interior design students, with the aim of revealing how the process of developing a design idea is influenced through the use of a philosophical concept that helps students to gain a deeper understanding of design and creativity. The methods used by the students during the design process and the relationship between these methods and the resulting designs were studied after they were guided to develop design concepts. It was concluded that this group was able to create original and innovative designs in different contexts. It is believed that this study may contribute to improving students' creativity by helping them to consciously use the concept development method in the design process. The study employed a mixed descriptive and analytical approach along with an applied experiment. It concluded with several results and recommendations that may contribute to supporting research in this field.
