Abstract

This study authenticates both the artistic and historical references of the European style statues at Baron Empain Palace, Cairo, and that are different in their style and materials from other palace’s sculptures of Asian style. The motive to conduct this study was the lack of art and historical references of theses statues; there is no mention of them in any published resources –electronic or printed- on Baron Palace and its contents, neither in Arabic nor in other languages. This study is restricted to the mentioned sculptures. It did not touch upon the Asian style sculptures. The research depends on materials collected from the field. It also relied on some of the historical method and comparative studies techniques. The study resulted in determining definitively the historical and artistic references of these statues. Three recommendations of the conclusion were presented, aiming at the touristic and heritage role of the palace.
